Scientists said that lowering blood pressure in the elderly is more likely to indicate a rapid death. The findings of the researchers were published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine.

In the course of the study, the researchers analyzed the data of 46.6 thousand UK residents who died at the age of 60 and older. The sample included both data on people suffering from cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, as well as those who had practically no health problems.

The researchers found that approximately 18-14 years before death, blood pressure reaches its maximum, and then begins to decline. In this case, two years before death, the drop in blood pressure was the most significant.
