A study of Taiwanese scientists has shown that green tea helps prevent osteoporosis in elderly women.

After interviewing 368 women over 65, doctors tried to find out how their lifestyle affects the density of bone tissue.

Of 368 women, whose average age was 74 years, 60 women turned out to be big lovers of green tea, while 308 women seldom drank it.

Among the "tea crops" only 46.7% had osteoporosis. For comparison, among those who do not like tea, 63.3%.

The study confirmed the findings of Chinese and Western scientists that drinking green tea is very beneficial for health and helps prevent many diseases.

According to the study, some ingredients of green tea play a role in reducing the incidence of osteoporosis.

First of all, it is fluoride, which slows down the loss of bone mass, and flavonoids - they strengthen the bones. Two other substances from green tea, polyphenols and tannins, also help improve the condition of bone tissue, say scientists.

Osteoporosis is the most common type of bone disease. It develops with age due to loss of bone density, which makes the bones more fragile.
