This night the Earth satellite will look bigger and brighter than usual. According to the weather forecasters, in Britain this phenomenon began about four o'clock in the evening, and residents of the Ukrainian capital began to observe it about six o'clock in the evening on Greenwich.
However, according to Robert Massey of the Royal Astronomical Society, the brightest of all the full moon will shine exactly at midnight when it reaches the highest point above the horizon. However, the difference in size by 7% and in brightness - by 15% compared to the usual moon for the naked eye will not be too noticeable.
This time, the Earth's satellite will approach the planet at a distance of 358,499 kilometers, which is 26,000 kilometers closer than usual, explained Massey.
Recall, as reported URA-Inform, last year this phenomenon could be observed on the night of November 14. On this day, the moon was 14% larger and 30% brighter than the usual.
