Former Brazilian striker Robinho was convicted of rape and sentenced to nine years in prison.

The tribunal in Milan recognized Robinho and five other men as guilty of gang rape of a 22-year-old Albanian woman.

The incident happened at one of the Milan discos in January 2013.

Although Robinho was sentenced to nine years in prison, the Italian justice system allows challenging this decision on several levels. For this reason, the entry into force of the verdict is suspended until the appellate process is completed.

Currently, Robinho lives in Brazil, where he plays for Atletico Mineiro.
