To be frank, Russia is quite an ordinary third world country.
Let us explain.
Of course, the "third world" is an averaging concept. Large cities like Peter, Moscow or Novosib with their zones of comfort and infrastructure are quite pulling at the "second world". Well, the Russian outback with impassable mud, shacks, alcoholics and toilets on the street is the real "fourth", writes the blogger Bogomol-atheist.
In general, Russia is quite an ordinary undeveloped country country of the third world with an appropriate level of problems. With huge corruption, poor education, alcoholics, lack of order, rudeness, poverty, dumb ideology, bureaucracy, inconveniences, broken roads and totalitarianism. But! At the same time there are those who consider Russia something of the greatest, supernatural and sublime. They call for Russia to be the best country in the world and to worship it. They sing about power and strength.
But how is this possible! ? Why this very backward country [?] ? ] is it considered to be something great and sublime?.
The answer to this question is simple, however it is very unusual. And today we will consider this answer.
The human brain is designed so that people in their mass tend to substitute concepts. Everyone there Aristotle, Pierre Fermat and Carl Weierstrass with their desire for accuracy of presentation and a scrupulous choice of words are clear exceptions to the general trend. Basically, people tend to substitute associative concepts and do not see this as a problem.
People often confuse warm with fluffy. Predatory with toothy. Brilliant with gold, about which there is even a corresponding proverb. Well, great with the great.
And here at last we will focus attention.
"The Great" is a multi-valued word. And in one of its meanings it is a synonym for the word "big". Large physically. Despite the fact that the "big" is not always a great one, the substitution of size for achievements is very characteristic.
The design of our language is such that we often mix different concepts, if they can be called in one word. Simply because of the device language, people without noticing, will involuntarily put an equal sign between different concepts, simply because our brain and our language allow them to be called in one word and associatively linked.
The country that has taken its eternal permafrost and taiga forests is considered to be a great. And this is only because it is geometrically large. Although we know that there is no connection between the size of the country and its achievements.
Small countries like Britain, Austria, Japan, South Korea and Singapore have a colossal international influence and a huge economy. Their scientific and economic achievements are undeniable. However, such achievements do not require the size of a sixth of the land.
The reader will not be mistaken if he says that simply the physical dimensions of Russia involuntarily induce people to ascribe to Russia some greatness (and, on the basis of this, consider themselves entitled to climb into other countries). Although size is a very dubious achievement. There is nothing good in having to grab your territories, then to equip them in no way.
It is Russia's territorial size that involuntarily forces many people to think that Russia is a great country. Simply because "big" and "great" are partly synonyms.
Although, I repeat, the size of the country has nothing to do with its achievements. Simply stupid territory, in many respects consisting of nobody needing permafrost and unconfined forests, is a dubious achievement.
Precisely because Russia suffers from excessive awkward gigantism, they begin to attribute greatness, God-chosenness and uniqueness to it. Just from the large size of the country, an erroneous conclusion is drawn about its certain greatness and elevated role. And our language and the device of our brain are to blame for this..
The area of ??the country does not give rest to patriots and officials. From this area a conclusion is drawn about the power and some kind of supernatural role of the country.
Well, if this conclusion was simply made, without any consequences. But the problem is just that there are consequences, and they are pernicious.
Russia imagines itself as a special person, overestimates its role, considering itself entitled to climb into other countries, impose their own opinion and lifestyle on them. Russia considers itself above international law, which, you see, God himself ordered to violate. Russia turns itself into an image that needs to be fed lives and destinies. And for which you must suffer, if you do not agree with his sacredness. And all this is simply because Russia has a purely geometrically large territory. And, hence, "greatness", which is confused with greatness in the sense of economic achievements.
From the possession of a large territory, the wrong conclusion is drawn about the possession of a certain greatness. Because it means "big" and "great" in part synonymous!.
Naturally, there is a simple solution to this problem. The occupied countries, and even Russia itself, would be greatly helped by the disintegration into pieces. Then these pieces will no longer be concerned about the size and on this basis of bloated national grandeur. Simply because what warms this greatness - a large territorial size - will no longer play its role. Moreover, in this case Moscow will no longer have the opportunity to suck money out of regions like Siberia, then to let them go to war in Syria and Ukraine.
Small free fragments will get a chance to get rid of Moscow's centrism and build their own economies. If they manage to make friends with the West, then it can lead to very good results.
We know that the collapse of empires is, rather, a blessing. For example, modern Switzerland, Austria and Germany are unlikely to regret that once they were one country.
Moreover, the greatness of the country, due only to its territory, necessarily requires the costs of propaganda and ideology. With the collapse of the empire, this propaganda will disappear and resources will be freed up, which can be put into something more sensible, like the arrangement of housing and roads.
Therefore, an excellent way to treat the harmful delusion of Russia about its greatness and sacred role is the disintegration. It will become easier for everyone: the Russians themselves, who will get a chance to live in free countries, and their neighbors.
For many years Russia has been trying to break free from the backwardness. But at the same time, she keeps her ugly, unsophisticated gigantism. New rulers make the same mistake every time, making from gigantism the conclusion about the greatness of the country and affirming the need for this greatness to support. As a result, a lot of resources are spent each time on ideology, militarism and farce. So, for the improvement of their almost no choice. And only with the breakdown of the ill-fated empire into pieces the military and ideology will no longer play a role. They will stop taking resources from development. And the neighbors of the once great empire, and exactly like its inhabitants, can breathe peacefully.
This is disintegration - the best cure for the inflammation of sacredness.
PS I believe that it is much better to live comfortably than to endure poverty and inconvenience for the sake of stories about some mythical greatness of the country and its sacred role.
