At the time of the fire, a 2-year-old child was sleeping in the house. Grandfather saw smoke from the house and rushed to save the child. As a result, the boy received burns and, in a state of moderate severity, was taken to the Bug central rayon hospital. Later he was also sent to the intensive care unit of the 8th City Clinical Hospital in Lviv, where he died.
