NASA experts made a forecast about the possibility of the end of the world. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration of the United States believes that the death of mankind is borne by the asteroid Apophis, who can fall to the planet.
According to scientists, Apophis in the coming decades will threaten the Earth twice. An asteroid weighing about 18 million tons completely consists of ice and dust, the Observer writes with reference to Nation News.
If the celestial body collapses to the surface of the planet, the impact will be 880 megatons in trotyl equivalent (for comparison, the Tunguska meteorite was estimated at 10-40 Mt, and the nuclear bomb over Hiroshima - from 13 to 18 Mt).
The fall of Apophis, which is likely to destroy all life on Earth, will provoke widespread tsunamis and destruction of disastrous proportions.
As the "CP in Ukraine" writes, astronomers were guided by the following calculations: on April 13, 2029, a stone block will fly past the Earth at a distance of 32 thousand. km. But if the asteroid moves slightly and is 30-404 km from our planet, it will fall into the so-called gravity "keyhole". The resulting hole, the size of which coincides with the diameter of the asteroid, can become a trap in which the force of gravity of the Earth will be able to deploy the flight of Apophis in a dangerous direction, and then our planet will fall under the sight. And the next time, that is, on April 13, 2036, Apophis may fall upon the Earth. The heavenly body will cross the orbit of the Moon and begin to move toward the Earth with an estimated speed of about 37 thousand. km / h.
Now scientists are busy with a careful study of objects that can be dangerous to the planet.
