A submarine with a crew of 44 people was sent from the port of Ushuaia to its base in Mar del Plata. The last time "San Juan" was on call on Wednesday, being 432 km from the coast of Patagonia.

Argentina sent aircraft and ships to search for submarines; almost immediately offered assistance to the United States, Britain and Chile.

Representative of the Southern Command of the US Army Jose Ruiz said that the search operation involved a converted reconnaissance aircraft P-3 Orion, which uses for scientific purposes NASA.

In addition, the US Navy command ordered the preparation of a special remote-controlled deep-water vehicle in San Diego, capable of descending to a depth of 600 meters. The device, designed to save the crews of submarines, can be transferred to a military transport aircraft anywhere in the world.
