Scientists have found out how not to turn a child into an allergic person: early introduction to the diet of cow's milk, eggs, peanuts and similar products can reduce the likelihood of food allergies in the future.

At the international conference ATS 2016, Canadian researchers said that the earlier the immune system of children gets acquainted with potentially allergenic food, the calmer the body will react to it in the future and the lower the risk of sensitization.

These findings are based on the results of a major study of the Canadian Healthy Infant Longitudinal Development Study (CHILD), in which more than 1,400 children.

The majority of parents started to give milk formula in cow milk to 6 months - 48%, another 48% did it in 7-12 months, and only 4% - after 1 year. Chicken eggs, as it turned out, children tried much later: 6% - up to 6 months, 76% - from 7 to 12 months, another 19% - after the year.

An analysis of the case histories of children after one-year-old age suggests that the earlier potential allergens are introduced into the child's diet, the lower the risk of food allergy for this product in the future.

"The clinical significance of our discovery is obvious. We can recommend the earliest, accurate introduction of any potentially allergenic products for the prevention of sensitization. This is much better than avoiding eggs and peanut butter in every way in fear of allergies, "says study author Dr. Malcolm Sears of McMaster University.

According to the independent expert Dr. Tran, many modern Western leaders already reflect a "change in thinking" in pediatrics. If earlier doctors recommended refraining from certain foods, today, on the contrary, they are advised to inject them into lures even before the age of 6 months.
