On Thursday evening, on the 74th kilometer of the road R-173 "Yoshkar-Ola - Kozmodemyansk" in the Kilemar region near the village of Vizimary there was a collision of a minibus Mercedes-Benz Sprinter with a laden log truck "KamAZ" with a trailer.

The 20-seater minivan was completely filled. There was a snowfall, the road in places did not have asphalt pavement. At temperatures to minus three degrees, there was ice in places. Local residents in social networks write that the quality of the road leaves much to be desired, accidents on it are not uncommon.

The driver of the minibus did not estimate, as expected, the weather conditions when entering overtaking and did not manage to finish his maneuver. Having left on the oncoming lane, he tried to escape from a head-on collision with a timber carrier, but nevertheless touched him on the tangent. From a powerful blow, a minivan minibus flew into a ditch. On the site, 15 people were killed, including the driver. Among the dead there is one child. Another five people were injured of varying degrees of severity. Two of them are children. They were taken to the Children's Republican Clinical Hospital of Yoshkar-Ola. Some of the victims were removed from the crumpled minibus with the help of special equipment. Five ambulance teams were working in the field.

The case is initiated on h. 3 items. 238 of the Criminal Code (rendering services that do not meet the requirements of safety of life and health). The inspection of the carrier to which the bus belonged was started. November 17 in the Republic of Mari El declared a day of mourning.
