Yesterday, HTC announced the virtual reality headset Vive Focus. This completely independent solution does not require the connection of a smartphone or PC. At the heart of the novelty is SoC Snapdragon 835, and as a software platform is Wave VR.
During the announcement it was said that the Vive Focus is intended for the Chinese market, and the version for the US and Europe is supposed to come out later. Apparently, these plans have already changed.
As reported, HTC refused to release a headset with the support of Google Daydream in the Western markets. The bottom line is that the Daydream platform for China is not available. Previously, HTC was talking about the intention to release two VR headsets, one of which would use the Google platform. But for logistical reasons the company refused these plans.
There is no exact information on this, but it is assumed that the version with Daydream support would be almost a full copy of Vive Focus. That is, it should have been the same modification for the US and Europe, but this will not happen.
