So, in the course of the survey, the Australians were asked if they could support possible changes in legislation that would allow same-sex couples to marry.

According to the results of the survey, 61.6% of the respondents supported the initiative, 38.4%. In total, the survey involved more than 12.7 million local residents from 16 million Australians eligible to vote.

It is noted that the result of the poll should lead to consideration of the relevant bill in the parliament. In turn, Prime Minister of Australia Malcolm Turnbull promised that the adoption of the bill is possible by Christmas.

As previously reported in URA-Inform, in the United States in the elections to the House of Delegates of Virginia, the victory was won by 33-year-old ex-journalist Danika Roy, becoming the first transgender to take a public position in the country.
