In China, arrested 20 suspects in hacking more than 50 airlines

Law enforcement officers of Wenzhou City in eastern China's Zhejiang Province detained 20 people suspected of hacking into the servers of airlines and stealing data from their customers. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency.

According to the agency, since 2016 the group has cracked servers of more than 50 airlines and stole more than 300 thousand. units of personal data, including information about identity cards, passwords and passenger information.

As the police found out, the suspects traded stolen data, selling them for 5 yuan (less than $ 1). Over the year, criminals earned a total of more than 10 million yuan (about $ 1.5 million).

According to the legislation of the People's Republic of China, persons who have stolen more than 500 thousand. units of personal data can be punished with imprisonment for up to 7 years.
