Ural athletes won 4 medals at the completed World Sambo Championship in Sochi. Alsim Chernoskulov (weight class up to 100 kg) and Vladimir Balykov (up to 68 kg) were able to win awards of the highest value.. Bronze medals earned Valery Soronokov (up to 52 kg) and Ilya Lebedev (up to 74 kg).

Almost 40 seconds before the end of the final match with Georgian David Loriashvili, Alsim Chernoskulov conceded to the opponent with a score of 0: 1 because of the warning received.
