It is reported that Flynn and his son Michael Flynn Jr. colluded with the Turkish authorities, who promised to reward the kidnappers worth $ 15 million for the operation carried out to transfer the preacher Gulen, whom Turkey accuses of an attempted coup on the night of July 16, 2016.

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation interrogated four witnesses in the case and found that possible negotiations could take place at Club 21, where Flynn met with the Turkish authorities.
