HTC reported a growth in losses for the quarter

Taiwanese company HTC, part of the smartphone business which in September, bought the corporation Google, reported on the results of work in the third quarter of 2017. All the main financial indicators of the company turned out to be worse than a year ago.

Thus, HTC's revenue for the three-month period declined to 15.7 billion Taiwan dollars (1.24 billion US dollars), while in the same period in 2016, sales were measured at 22.2 billion Taiwan dollars.

Earlier, the company reported that in October and from early 2017 its revenue was 6.06 and 52.44 billion Taiwan dollars (about 200 million and 1.7 billion US dollars). October indicator was 6.8% less than in September, and on an annual basis, the decline reached 25.8%. At the same time, the total sales volume for 10 months decreased by more than 18% compared to the same period of 2016.

The quarterly report also revealed that HTC's operating loss in July-September increased and amounted to 3.3 billion Taiwan dollars (about 109 million US dollars) against 2 billion Taiwan dollars a year earlier.

Net losses after taxes in the company were estimated at 3.1 billion Taiwan dollars (102 million US dollars), while in the third quarter of 2016 the losses were at the level of 2 billion Taiwan dollars.

The gross margin of HTC in the period under review decreased from 16.1% to 10.3%, while the operating margin remained negative and deteriorated from -9% to -20.9%.
