Iranian authorities intend to legalize bitcoin

The Iranian government intends to legalize bitcoin as a legal tender in the country. This is reported by Cryptocoinsnews with reference to local sources.

The Minister of Information and Communication Technologies of Iran, Amir Hossein Davaye, in an interview with the "Shargh" newspaper announced the agency's intentions to prepare the country for the legalization of bitcoin as a currency.

"The Ministry has already conducted a number of studies to prepare the infrastructure for using bitcoin inside the country," the head of the department.

Stressing that the crypto-currencies have economic and infrastructure potential, the minister acknowledged that the legalization of digital currencies will meet the interests of the Iranian state.

"Our agency is engaged in the technological development of the country, so we are very serious about preparing infrastructure for the new currency," he added..

Against the backdrop of sanctions against Iran imposed by the US and other Western countries, the country's authorities are trying to reduce their dependence on the dollar, fiat money and the global economic system through the development of new technologies.
