The Ukrainian hryvnia is recognized as the most undervalued currency in the world. This is evidenced by the updated index of BigMac, which is calculated by The Economist magazine, informs Anticor.

As it turned out, the most expensive in terms of dollars is the cost of living in Ukraine - $ 1.57 (39 hryvnia), while in the United States the product costs $ 5.04. Based on this, the researchers came to the conclusion that the hryvnia is underestimated by 68.8%.

Thus, according to the study, the exchange rate of the dollar in Ukraine should be equal to 7.86 UAH.

The second place in the list of undervalued currencies was occupied by Malaysia with the indicator of 1.99 dollars (underestimation in 60.6%) and Russia from 2.05 dollars (undervaluation of 34.2%).

The most overvalued currency was the Swiss franc (overestimated by 30.8%).

The Big Mac index is based on the theory of purchasing power parity, according to which the exchange rate should equalize the cost of the consumer basket in different countries. It is sold all over the world, and its composition is practically unchanged.
