Our country has every chance at the end of the year to regain the world's leading grain trade. Last year, Russia sold abroad 27.1 million tons of grain, ceding the title of the largest exporter to the United States. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation reported that as of November 1 this year, Russian wheat exports increased by 23% compared to the same date in 2016. , up to 10.6 million tons, cereals as a whole - by 28.4%, to 16.9 million tons. Alexander Korbut, Vice-President of the Russian Grain Union, predicts that by the end of the year, wheat supplies to foreign markets could reach a minimum of 32 million tons. In total, Russia plans to harvest 130 million tons of grain this season and export 45 million tons. In addition, this year the quality of wheat is better than in the past, thanks to good weather, "Izvestia". Director General of the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies Dmitry Rylko believes that in fact ten months could have been exported even more than figures in the statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture. "The fact is that the FCS is often late with the calculation. In fact, not 16 million tons of grain were exported, but 18 million tons. However, the maintenance of the growth rates of supplies in the remaining two months should not be expected, because it is not known what the weather will be like. Precipitation can lead to a slowdown in harvesting, and this will not allow exports to grow also intensively, "the expert warned.. Wheat is the basis of Russian grain exports.
This priority is determined by the demand: Egypt, Turkey and the countries of the Middle East line up for domestic bread. Recently, our country is also actively developing the markets of Vietnam, Indonesia, South Korea and other countries of South-East Asia. Thus, Indonesia annually increases grain imports by 1 million tons, and Russia seeks to become the main supplier for the country. The success of foreigners is enjoyed not only by Russian wheat, but also by other crops. This year, the largest increase in exports was demonstrated by barley: its supplies as of November 1 increased 1.8 times compared to the same date last year, to 2.5 million tons. Corn is also in favor: the increase in exports for the year was 19.5%, to 1.2 million tonnes. Despite the record harvest this season, consumers should not expect a fall in retail prices, because the cost of grain is only about 25% of the price of bread. In addition, manufacturers prefer to sell as much as possible abroad, because because of the overproduction of prices in the domestic market fall. Export for agrarians is the only salvation.
The expansion of grain production and export is important for Russia, since it allows diversifying the economy. If now the agro-industrial complex occupies only 4% of GDP, then in the long term this indicator can double, believes the head of the Ministry of Agriculture Alexander Tkachev.
According to him, Russia is able not only to feed itself, but also to become the leading agrarian power in the world.
