Such measures are related to actions against Ukraine. Sanctions are imposed in accordance with the sanction law passed earlier this year.

As I inform the media, in particular, it is about new restrictions on the direct or indirect provision, export or re-export of goods, services or technologies for certain types of activities to individuals or legal entities that are already under sanctions, their property or property interests, if they operate in the energy sector of Russia, namely in the field of oil production.

However, one of the restrictions prohibits the listed activities for the exploration or implementation of deep-sea, Arctic shelf or oil shale oil projects if they can lead to oil production in Russia or at sea in the zones claimed by Russia and adjacent to its territory.

Another restriction, moreover, will prohibit the same actions for the mentioned projects, which will be started on January 29, 2018 or later and may lead to the production of oil anywhere. Moreover, this second restriction will concern all such projects in which the subordinated individuals or legal entities have at least 33 percent ownership, and not 50 percent, as for other similar US sanctions.

Current limitations relate only to oil production projects and do not concern gas production projects.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, the State Department of the United States of America has drawn up a new list of individuals and organizations that can get into the expanded list of sanctions against Russia. It included representatives of the intelligence and defense industries of the Russian Federation.
