In Russia, a special department appeared, which explores the possibilities of blocking Internet resources, including anonymizers and VPN services. This is reported by Deutsche Welle.

According to the head of Roskomnadzor Alexander Zharov, the new structure was created on the basis of the enterprise "Main Radio Frequency Center" (GRCHTS), subordinated to the Russian body for control and supervision in the field of media.

Thus, Roskomnadzor is preparing for the entry into force of new rules on Internet regulation, in particular amendments to the law on the protection of information that require anonymizers and VPN services to filter traffic and not grant users access to blocked sites.

If these services do not comply with the norms of the law themselves, they should be blocked, so the employees of the HRCHC train to block including anonymizers.

The law on the regulation of anonymizers comes into force in Russia on November 1. Observers consider it an attack on Internet freedom.
