Parodontosis is a disease of a primary-dystrophic nature. This means that with periodontal disease there is a disruption of the trophism (nutrition) of the jawbone and periodontal tissues (a violation of tissue renewal, a violation of gingival blood supply, a violation of mineral metabolism). The causes of periodontitis are changes caused by diseases of internal organs and systems (atherosclerosis, hypertension, vegetovascular dystonia), as well as bone lesions (osteopenia).
Periodontal disease occurs infrequently (5-10% of cases). Periodontal disease does not cause pain and other sensations, so patients usually do not consult a doctor. In pronounced stages, periodontal disease is complicated by gingival inflammation and is called periodontitis.
The clinical symptoms of periodontitis are inexpressive. Periodontal disease develops slowly, without showing itself for a long time. Patients suffering from periodontal disease, note unpleasant sensations in the gums, a feeling of itching, but most often turn to the dentist due to the increased sensitivity of the tooth tissues.
