The appearance of non-reference versions of Radeon RX Vega is still in question

Since the announcement of video cards AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 and RX Vega 56 has passed a lot of time - a month and a half months, respectively, nevertheless, these models are still sold at prices far from recommended, and AIB-partners Advanced Micro Devices in no hurry introduce non-reference solutions to the market. As it was possible to find out to journalists of Tom's Hardware, the plans of the well-known manufacturer of graphic accelerators Gigabyte Technology does not mention the RX Vega 64 model of alternative design. This uneasy solution is explained by several sources at once. First, the frequency potential of Vega 10 XT GPUs varies too much from instance to instance. Secondly, the GPU temperature sensor readings, as a rule, do not coincide with the actual. Thirdly, there are several variants of graphics cores for RX Vega 64 cards based on various crystals, which significantly complicates the design of cooling systems. Another not mentioned in Tom's Hardware article, but the obvious reason is the low appeal of Radeon RX Vega 64 against the background of the older GeForce 10 solutions in terms of "price / performance" and "performance / power consumption".

Despite the almost zero probability of the appearance of RX Vega 64 models of Gigabyte's own design as serial products, similar graphics cards can make their debut as part of the RX Vega 56 series (although it is unknown when exactly). Uncertainty about non-reference Radeon RX Vega is more or less evident in most AIB AMD partners - especially those who are not connected with chipmaker agreements that oblige to support any major releases.

AMD's long-time associates, Sapphire and PowerColor, are designing their cards for Vega 10 XL / 10 XT, and ASUS introduced the ROG Strix Radeon RX Vega 64 alternative design model back in the summer, but so far it has not released it to the market. From the named trinity only PowerColor has designated an approximate date of release of its non-standard version of Vega 10 - the beginning of November.

Proceeding from the above, it is not surprising that video card manufacturers are more waiting for the supply of graphics chips for non-reference GeForce GTX 1070 Ti, rather than for Radeon RX Vega 64/56. By the way, NVIDIA's plans regarding GeForce GTX 1070 accelerators are not clear yet: probably, the latter will give way to more powerful cards with the suffix Ti. The gradual accumulation in the warehouses of GP104-200 / 400 kernels that have not passed all inspections is a good reason for the release in the future of a hypothetical model "GeForce GTX 1060 Ti".
