Skeptics are defeated: those who believed that streaming would not save, but ultimately succeed in the music industry, were wrong. This is evidenced by a new report, which the Association of the Recording Industry of America.
According to the report, for the first half of the year revenue from streaming music grew by 17% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 4 billion dollars. At the moment, this direction accounts for 62% of the total revenue of the industry, digital downloads have received 19%, and physical media now only 16%. And yet two years ago this proportion looked like this: 33/41/16.
At the same time, revenue from paid subscription increased by 61 percent and amounted to $ 1.7 billion, while on digital downloads, content distributors managed to earn only $ 757 million.
Of course, do not forget that Apple Music is not the only music streaming service available to listeners. But at the same time, one can not but admit that the business model, in which the client pays a symbolic amount once a month and gets legal access to a large library of music, was able to succeed and breathe new life into the crisis-enduring entertainment industry.
