More recently, the TV channel UFO TV announced that in early 2018 the premiere of a new Ukrainian-language sitcom about foreign medical students will take place - Curators.

What will this project be and will it be able to compete with a similar series, shot by its neighbors? About this journalist site TV. UA asked the showrunners of the series "Curators" Roman Grischuk and Ivan Melashenko ("Mamakhohotala studio").

Tell us about the new project of the studio "Mamahohotala" for the TV channel UFO TV?.

Roman Grischuk: We shot a youth Ukrainian-speaking sitcom "Curators" about foreign students who came to study medicine in Ukraine and face our Ukrainian realities.

Ivan Melashenko: "Curators" are 24-minute series about foreigners who came to study in our country and adapt to life in it. Also in the sitcom there are our Ukrainian guys, they help to understand to foreigners our realities and mentality.

And why did the choice fall on the medical university?.

Vanya: Because in Ukraine a good and strong medical school. At us this science is developed and traditionally from the whole world students go to us, that in the future to become physicians. Therefore, we decided that our "foreigners" will study in the medical.

How did the idea of ??the show come to you?.

Roma: Vanya Bukreev (director of the TV channel UFO TV - prim. red. ) told us that the channel needs a youth Ukrainian-speaking sitcom. We with author groups "Mamahohotala" worked out various ideas of the sitcom about students. In the end, after the assault, two were chosen: the first - foreign students came to Ukraine; second - undergraduates were appointed curators of the first year. We decided to combine them - and the "Curators" turned out.

When can I see the "Curators" on the screens?.

Vanya: The audience will see the first season on UFO TV channel in early 2018.

The script was written by the authors of the studio "Mamahohotala"?.

Roma: Yes, the script was completely written by us. In total, seven author groups of the studio "Mamahohotala" worked on the series.

Vanya: We wanted to make the product very good, so we wrote it all. The task of each group is to come up with the idea of ??the series, to work it out, after which we take up the editorial board, make corrections, approve, and then the script writers begin to prescribe dialogs. One series is one story that begins and ends within 24 minutes, the next series is a completely new story. The only thing that connects them to each other is the characters with the same characters and locations. But at the end of the first season, spectators are waiting for the changes in the characters, which I will not talk about right now. They will be interesting and fateful and smoothly carry the viewer in the next season.

In the main roles of the "Curators" were shot ... Roma: Zhenya Yanovich and Oleg Maslyuk, from which we, in fact, and repelled the writing of the sitcom. When we came up with the idea, we already knew that the guys would be in the lead roles.

What are they in the sitcom?.

Roma: Making them different from the images in the show was difficult, and used to them. Zhenya Yanovich's character Tim is a classic slacker who falls in love and tries to combine his "existence of Casanova" with the attainment of love. Bogdan, played by Oleg Maslyuk, is a good-hearted, cheerful and intelligent student who likes to learn, but after his life brings him to Tim, Bogdan is constantly waiting for some adventures and incidents.

Vanya: Tim is the star of the faculty, in the second year he won at Mister. Charming and charismatic guy who, after the second year, zazvezdilsya and began to learn how horrible, do not go to pairs, take all the items at the expense of charisma and authority. During his time at the university, he had a lot of girls. He is a charismatic womanizer-razdolbai, who wants to live in pleasure and have fun. But at the same time, this is a person who is interested in the fate of his university.

Bogdan is an excellent student, a responsible guy, shy, embarrassed with girls and does not know how to build relationships with the opposite sex. Lovely, charming, but loser. The fact that he is doing well is studying. Therefore, the main characters and friends - they complement each other. Tim realized that you can use your friend for your own purposes, in turn, he helps Bogdan with the girls.

How was the selection of the other actors? What guided the selection?.

Roma: Actually, it was difficult to choose actors for the main roles of the sitcom, because they are Ukrainian-speaking foreigners (!). They should speak purely in Ukrainian, but at the same time have an interesting non-Slavic appearance. Almost everyone was approved the first time, because they are the only one of its kind. We were very much helped by Martin Fieldman, he was originally a resident of the show "Mamahohotala", you could see him already in the last season. Martin advised two characters: Sandra Moteuscha (the role of the Indian) and Serine Sianosyan (the role of the Georgian).

Vanya: I think this was the most difficult casting that was ever made in Ukraine. For each role of the foreigner we had as a result one candidate. Unfortunately, we have very few people of "foreign appearance" who thoroughly know the Ukrainian language, while funny, also actors. By some miracle, we managed to find a team of actors: they are all funny and classy, ??they look very colorful and original.

How did you cope with the age of the actors? Did the heroes get younger, because they played students?.

Roma: Well, we got Zhenya back to the image of the Goose in 2013 (the hero of the series "How the Style Was Tempered" on the UFO TV channel) to make him younger, even asked him to shave his wonderful beard. Olezhka and so young.

Vanya: Zhenya Yanovich was like three months in a cryocamera and was doing a wrap. In fact, they are not as old as they seem, but in Europe students study until they are 25, so Zhenya Yanovich and Oleg Masluk by European standards could well be students ... well ... or they stayed three times in the fourth year.

Will the famous actors in the sitcom. Perhaps, Pavlo Zibrov?.

Roma: In the first season Zibrova will not be exactly, but, probably, in the future this person will appear. Naturally, the cast of "Curators" will be complemented by famous Ukrainian actors. Who will it be? See in the spring.

The actors of the film "Infogolik" spoke two languages, it was discussed a long time. Now you shoot purely in Ukrainian?.

Roma: Yes, now we have a fully Ukrainian-language sitcom with Georgian inserts, which will be very few, but, believe me, they will be very funny.

Vanya: So there is some kind of uniformity and integrity. Because if all the characters spoke different languages, then there would be even more questions: why does the Georgian speak Russian, and the Hindu, for example, in Ukrainian. We would be confused at all.

In occasion of locations ... they built or found something ready?.

Roma: We shot in two pavilions: the dorm room and the pavilion "University", hall, the audience. All this was built for the filming of the "Curators". There will be no nature at all, purely pavilion photography.

In Russia there is already a popular series about students. Do you think he'll outdo him?.

Roma: Outdo it? Yes, we want. We have very funny images, each of which will fall in love with the viewer, and he just wants to follow the life of these characters.

Vanya: Our goal is a good classy Ukrainian product about the university and students. In Ukraine there was not yet a sitcom about student everyday life, and moreover, there was no sitcom and about foreigners. Therefore, the idea is original and interesting, it is very local and very much about us. "Curators" can not exist in any other country, they are purely ours.
