The extortion viruses will become one of the main cyber threats in 2017, the report of the European Police Agency.

"The global impact of major cyber security events, such as the epidemic of the extortion virus WannaCry, raised this threat from the cybercrime field to another level. Banks and other large business enterprises are now under threat of an unprecedented scale, "said the head of Evrpol, Rob Wainwright.

The report also speaks of the threat from botnets operating through infected unsafe Internet devices of things, as well as from the shadow Internet.
