Relevant information has become known, with research results that were published in the journal Science Advances.

It is assumed that the total volume of plastic that now floats in the waters of the Arctic can reach one thousand 200 tons.

"The increasing human activity in the warm and ice-free Arctic has caused the spread of microplastic in the waters of the Arctic Ocean, and this spot in the future can become even more," the researchers explained..

It is noted that the world already knows three "garbage spots".

The largest of these is the Pacific "garbage", discovered in 1997 after years of monitoring the amount of waste discharged into the ocean. Two more accumulations of plastic and other non-degradable debris are found in the Indian and Atlantic oceans.

We will add, the excess of plastic garbage became a problem for many countries in the world. Ukraine is no exception. Every year, our country accumulates about 12-15 million tons of solid household waste, 40% of which are packagings.

Experts point out that the problem lies in the lack of motivation for Ukrainians to deal with garbage civilized, in particular plastic bottles.

As previously reported in the "URA-Inform", in Lviv, tariffs for "garbage collection" almost doubled. Now residents of the city will pay 1.4 hryvnia for each square meter of living space.
