Cisco closed the acquisition of the developer of software for hyper-convergent media Springpath for $ 320 million.

Under the terms of the agreement, Springpath became part of the Cisco Computing Systems Product Group under the leadership of Liz Centony,. Springpath co-founders Mallik Mahalingam and Krishna Yadappanavar moved to Cisco.

Springpath offers a distributed file system for hyperconvergent systems, including server hardware and storage systems. The technology developed by the company is called Springpath HX Data Platform, it is used in Cisco UCS servers to create HyperFlex systems deployed in more than 1800 companies around the world. The number of clients working with Cisco UCS servers exceeds 60,000, the CRN newspaper writes with reference to the Cisco statement.

According to Liz Zentoni, Springpath is a strategic asset in the portfolio of solutions for Cisco data centers in the context of how the corporation focuses on providing customers with software-oriented solutions.
