TSMC does not intend to transfer its production and research facilities to China, despite the vast opportunities of the PRC market. This was stated by the chairman of the board of TSMC Morris Chan (Morris Chang), speaking at a solemn event at the National University of Taiwan (National Chiao Tung University).

"China is a huge and promising market, but being part of its supply chain does not mean that the main production of TSMC will be transferred to the PRC," the Taipei Times.

TSMC - the world's largest foundry company, which controls more than 50% of the contract manufacturing market for microchips according to customer specifications. The chip maker owned enterprise in the Chinese city of Nanjing currently produces about 20,000 12-inch semiconductor wafers per month, which is approximately 2% of the total production of TSMC. The main production facilities are in Taiwan, and there they will continue to remain, Morris Chan assured.

He also added that TSMC does not need to be transformed, and that its company is ready for the challenges of the digital age thanks to an effective management tool and a service model.

Meanwhile, the other day it became known that the American contract chipmaker GlobalFoundries complained to the antimonopoly authorities of the EU at TSMC and asked to conduct an investigation into the Taiwan company for unfair competition. TSMC categorically denies the allegations of GlobalFoundries in unfair market tactics.
