In the production of the investigative department for Kirovgrad, the SK of Russia in the Sverdlovsk Region, there is a criminal case initiated pursuant to part 1 of Article 254 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (damage to the land).
According to the investigation, an unidentified person, carrying out activities related to the traffic of environmentally hazardous substances, polluted a site located in the Verkhnetagilsky urban district. According to available data, the soil was contaminated with substances such as arsenic, lead, cadmium, as well as petroleum products.
Investigators find out the circumstances of the incident and establish the person who poisoned the soil. The issue of appointing the necessary forensic examinations with the purpose of determining the extent of damage and the degree of harm caused to the environment.
As punishment for soil contamination, a fine of up to 200 thousand rubles or in the amount of the wage or other income of the convicted person for a period of up to eighteen months is provided, or by deprivation of the right to hold certain posts or engage in certain activities for up to three years, or by compulsory works for a period of up to four hundred and eighty hours, or correctional labor for up to two years.
