In accordance with the new resolution of the UN Security Council, the EU tightened sanctions against North Korea. Citizens of the DPRK will no longer be able to obtain work permits in the countries of the European Union, the Council of the European Union said on Thursday, September 14, in Brussels.

In addition, the European Union introduces an absolute ban on the importation of coal, iron, iron ore, seafood, lead and lead ore from North Korea, the report says..

All 15 member states of the UN Security Council, including Russia and China, approved on September 11 a new draft resolution on imposing additional sanctions on the DPRK. The document assumes a complete ban on the importation of textile products from North Korea, and also limits the sale of Pyongyang's oil products to two million barrels per year.

In addition, a limit is imposed on North Korea's deliveries of crude oil - its volumes should not exceed the figures for the past 12 months. The main supplier of liquid hydrocarbons to North Korea is China. The Security Council also imposed a ban on the sale of Pyongyang condensates and gas condensate liquids.

Before the vote, the draft resolution was amended - the original version presupposed the imposition of a full embargo on oil supplies and the freezing of foreign assets of the leader of the DPRK Kim Jong-Yin. In connection with the expected attempts by Moscow and Beijing to block the document in this form, it was amended.

In early September, North Korea announced a successful test of the hydrogen warhead, which can be used to equip intercontinental ballistic missiles.
