"The mentioned blocked farms are in the EU countries: in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy and Hungary. Some have already been withdrawn from the quarantine, but in general the situation remains far from ideal, "- said the European Commissioner for Health Vitenis Andriukaitis.

In the opinion of the European Commissioner, despite the fact that none of the ordinary buyers suffered from poisonous supplies to the EU, the general negative situation undermined consumer confidence. Retailers who were ordered to destroy the products placed on the shelves incur serious losses. Currently, the European Commission determines the perpetrators of the distribution of contaminated products to hold them accountable.

Scandal with the advent of a chemical in eggs erupted in the EU in early August. Contaminated products were produced by Dutch farmers who illegally used fipronil to combat insect parasites. Deliveries from the Netherlands were made to Germany. And from there they got on the shelves of other EU member states.
