About the delirious reform of education in Ukraine

Today they called on the air of the Duma-TV about the new Law on Education. Usually I try not to react to the stupidity of our power, but here the result is so opposite to the stated goals that I decided to comment. Although I understand perfectly well that all this is useless.

In fact, the question is not whether or not a 12-year education is needed. And not even that this law destroys education in Russian. It's just the most blatant nonsense of this law. But in relation to the law - this particular.

The main aspect of this reform: there is not the slightest analysis of what is bad and good in our education today. There is not the slightest attempt to understand what is happening today with education. There is no analysis of the situation at all, there are no, even purely imitative, attempts to conduct research, what problems are facing the school.

The law is a one hundred percent declaration of good intentions that will never become reality. In fact - intentions are hideous and useless, but the authors of this law do not even understand what horror they are doing.

Absolutely ignorant law.

It seems that the authors of the law did not even read those discussions about education that take place in the Russian media. Meanwhile, the problems of Ukrainian schools are absolutely identical to the problems of Russian schools. Only we are much worse: the intellectual level of our specialists is much lower than Russian. That's why our ZNO is not questioned in the press, and in Russia there is a very thorough discussion about the role of the USE. That is why in Russia we are very carefully discussing the problem of returning an oral exam to a school, and we generally do not think about this topic. This can all be continued.

The Ukrainian law on education is actually reduced to four problems: teaching 12 years, studying only in Ukrainian, increasing allocations from the budget for education, increasing teachers' salaries. Meanwhile, none of these issues is important for the reform of education, except for the language of instruction, but not in the sense that is considered by this law.

The Ukrainian post-Soviet school has evolved, as, incidentally, the Russian one, into a bureaucracy reserve. Both in Ukraine and in Russia the number of documents and reports that must be filled by teachers. Both there and here there is a total unification of the school, which inevitably leads to its complete degradation. No attempt to change the education system is possible without the elimination of the main weapon of the Soviet system: the Ministry of Education - the regional departments of education - the city departments of education. Without the elimination of this bureaucratic hierarchy, school reform is impossible in principle.

The attempt of the law on education to introduce the election of school principals is a pure profanation: until, at least, schools no longer cease to be the main element of the Ukrainian electoral system (this is where the main falsifications of elections are held at the local level), no free elections in this system are possible. But even if for a moment to imagine that elections will not be held in schools, and teachers under the control of directors will not engage in falsification of elections, all the same elections in the presence of control of the district is a fiction. Rayono is objectively interested not in independent school directors, but in obedient. So the demagogues can speak about elections.

The post-Soviet school is designed for teaching natural science subjects. This was her strength in the Soviet era, when school graduates went either to engineers or workers. And the Soviet school organically could not train humanitarian workers - this requires a fundamentally different construction of the entire school building. But, unfortunately, the study of natural science fell below the plinth. But at the same time, of course, there was no increase in the level of humanitarian education: it was as low as it remained.

Humanitarian education requires freedom of thought and reasoning. It requires a teacher who should not teach, but give the opportunity to think, not to broadcast, and to argue. Impossible for humanitarian education without disputes, discussions, without initiative from below. That is why the main element of political disciplines in the USSR were seminars, not lectures.

The modern Ukrainian school does not argue, does not argue, does not seek - it educates. This is not necessary for children, parents, or society. This is all - "lime", from beginning to end. And the fact that now mate in the street has become commonplace, so this is also because the school educates, and does not argue.

And the most important thing. The school ceased to be a social elevator. In Soviet times, even in the era of "stagnation," the successful completion of the school allowed us to hope for a good career. Now schooling does not guarantee anything. Yes, the good results of the ZNO allow for a more successful budget transfer. But ZNO and schooling are not connected in any way. In addition, and higher education in our country is not a social elevator. The only thing that saves our school is the desire of the children to leave the country and enter the university in another country. And for this it is necessary to study well. But to the law on education this has not the slightest relation.

Our school can be saved only by total rejection of the bureaucratic model and the transition of schools to the control of the Board of Guardians, which are created with the participation of parents. It is these councils that should recruit teachers, approve programs and curricula. Then the reform is possible. But our government will never take this step. Local authorities - because in this case they lose control over the elections, the ministry - because they do not need anyone then.

And a few words about the language. Violence over language means the collapse of culture. I have repeatedly written that the authors of all these "culturological" and "enlightenment" laws are ignorant and stupid "scoops". The level of intelligence in these "law-makers", as it is now fashionable to say, is below the plinth. Unfortunately, among Ukrainian intellectuals there is no understanding today of what this policy will lead to. And, in fact, the destruction of education and culture in Ukraine is being applauded by Ukrainian intellectuals.

The authorities and the intellectual elite of the country do not care at all about the fact that the country "totally brains".

This locomotive flies into the abyss, and there is no other way for it.
