The diplomatic department said that the words of the Russian president are another attempt by Russia, which itself is a party to the conflict, to present aggression as an internal Ukrainian conflict and distort the very purpose of introducing a peacekeeping operation.

At the same time, Ukraine as a consistent supporter of the initiative to deploy a UN peacekeeping operation in the Donbass is ready to work on this issue. In this regard, the Ukrainian ambassador has been instructed to hold consultations with delegations to the UN Security Council.

The Foreign Ministry noted that the deployment of a UN peacekeeping operation can contribute to the restoration of peace and security in the East of Ukraine.

Also, Ukraine has always maintained a clear position that the introduction of a peacekeeping mission can take place only after the consent of the Ukrainian side, after the withdrawal of all occupying troops and mercenaries, as well as their weapons from the territory of Ukraine and ensuring reliable control of the Russian-Ukrainian border.

If a decision is taken to establish a peacekeeping operation (PKO), there can be no question of the presence of military or other personnel of the aggressor country on the territory of Ukraine under the guise of peacekeepers, since this would contradict the basic principles of UN peacekeeping activities.

Also, there can be no question of obtaining consent to conduct a peacekeeping mission from illegal armed formations operating on the territory of the ORLLO.

"We also believe that the strict observance by the Russian side of a stable and full ceasefire regime announced at the end of August in connection with the start of the academic year should create a favorable basis for the start of a dialogue with the aim of deploying a UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbass," the statement says..

On September 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he supports the introduction of UN peacekeepers in the Donbass, he said, the presence of UN peacekeepers in the Donbass "would benefit".

He also instructed the Russian Foreign Ministry to introduce a draft resolution to the UN Security Council.
