Experts of the World Bank Group have modeled the future growth of taxes on tobacco, which is traditionally held in January of each year, writes Novosti-N. So, according to the research, now potential options for the growth of excises in the next year may be such options: - Increase in specific excise tax by 29%; - Increase in specific excise tax by 33%, and ad valorem rate to 20%; - Increase in specific excise tax by 40% and ad valorem rate to 20%. According to experts from the Ukrainian Tobacco Control Center and the World Bank, the third scenario is the most profitable for the state, which will help attract the most additional funds to the budget. Only in the first half of this year the state budget received 18.6 billion UAH from tobacco excises, which is 86% more than two years ago. Also, it is not a secret for anyone that raising taxes is accompanied by an increase in the value of tobacco products. So, if the third scenario is adopted, the tax burden on a pack of cigarettes will grow by 6-8 UAH, and the average price may increase by an average of 10 UAH as early as next year, experts say..
