NBU allowed banks to issue loans in hryvnia against the security of the currency

According to the board of the regulator, this will help revive bank lending. As reported on Wednesday morning, August 30, the press service of the NBU, this decision was made as part of the next easing of anti-crisis restrictions in the foreign exchange market.

Until now, it was forbidden banks to provide customers with loans in national currency, including through open credit lines and by prolongation of previously granted loans, if such obligations were granted property rights to foreign currency funds deposited in bank accounts. However, now the National Bank has allowed the issuance of loans in such cases.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, in Ukraine since the beginning of the year the number of commercial banks decreased to 89. Before that, there were 96 banks in Ukraine.
