President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has publicly declared himself the possessor of nuclear weapons, who have the appropriate military capabilities, but they hide this fact from the public. Those who do not want to do this voluntarily can be forced to declassify.

To convene a summit of nuclear weapon states and discuss ways to solve this global problem, Nazarbayev suggested during the solemn opening ceremony of the Bank of Low Enriched Uranium (LEU) of the IAEA. As Radio Azattyk reports, on Tuesday, August 29, on the bridge from the Hilton hotel in Astana, the head of Kazakhstan launched this project and handed over the symbolic keys from the building to the representatives of the IAEA.

But that the proposed way was effective, all holders of nuclear warheads should publicly admit it, Nazarbayev said.. To date, Russia, the United States, Britain, France and China have an official nuclear status. In addition, in the territory of a number of NATO countries, in particular Germany, Italy, Turkey, Belgium, the Netherlands, Canada, the US nuclear arsenals are stored.

But the biggest questions are caused by India, Pakistan, Israel and the DPRK. The first two conducted atomic tests in their time, but then did not show their interest in this topic. Israel in general, no one caught, but only intelligence reports indicate that the nuclear warheads in the country more than a hundred. And, perhaps, he worked in tandem with South Africa - and then in the list of illegal owners of terrible weapons, another line more. The DPRK does not hide its aspirations: it conducts tests, tells the world about them, and calls nuclear weapons a guarantee of the property of security. In an attempt to get their own atomic bomb, Myanmar, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia are also suspected. The fact that they behave silently does not mean that they do not pose a threat in the event of force majeure.

However, at international conferences related to limiting the proliferation and use of such weapons, representatives of these countries do not. But if their status were legalized, I would have a different conversation, I am sure the head of Kazakhstan.

At one time, Kazakhstan was the owner of the 4th-largest stockpile of nuclear warheads. However, the country renounced its nuclear status and became a consistent fighter for the elimination of nuclear weapons on the planet. In particular, the Bank of the LEU was created with this purpose in mind. It was decided that there will be stored LEU stock, which can be claimed in case of a crisis situation in the world uranium market, but exclusively for peaceful purposes - in the medical or energy spheres.

The Bank of NOU, which opened today, is located on the territory of the Ulba Metallurgical Plant in Ust-Kamenogorsk. The authorities of the country conducted explanatory work among the population that the threat to the environment or the health of local residents does not represent a repository.
