As a result of the incident, 11 people died. Another 35 were injured.

According to the local publication Publico, the tragedy occurred during the religious festival Festa da Senhora do Monte. Annually thousands of pilgrims from all over the world come to the festival.

According to preliminary information, the huge tree fell directly on the crowd gathered around the church on the slopes of the village of Monte.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, in Kiev on Vladimirskaya Street next to the National Museum of History of Ukraine, the storm knocked down a tree. From the old pear broke away part and collapsed on the passerby. As a result of the incident, a Turkish citizen was injured.
