Izvestia reports that the Russian embassy in Serbia confirmed on Wednesday, August 9, the detention of six Russian citizens in Kosovo. Police of the self-proclaimed republic reported earlier about the detention of Russians for illegally crossing the border from Serbia.
It is specified that 11 law enforcement bodies detained law enforcement bodies, five of them - citizens of Serbia.
"Ridus" writes that the detainees, who were traveling on two cars with Serbian numbers - from 15 to 48 years. The detention was held on the eve of about 14:00 Moscow time in the villages of Sekirach and Medregovac on the administrative border from the Kosovo side.
As it became known, border violators were taken to the police station for interrogation. The Russian diplomatic chancellery in Pristina was informed of what had happened.
The Republic of Kosovo - located on the Balkan Peninsula is a partially recognized state, where mostly Albanians live. Serbia considers Kosovo part of its territory. Russia does not recognize the independence of Kosovo.
