Gazovschiki Nezalezhnaya, having conducted a series of "additional audits," decided that their financial claims to the Russian "Gazprom" are not complete enough and they compacted the claim for five billion dollars.
Ukrainian national company Naftogaz in the near future will correct a claim to the Russian gas monopoly in Stockholm Arbitration Court for five billion dollars. This in an interview with the Ukrainian "Fifth Channel" said the commercial director of the Ukrainian company Yuri Vitrenko.
"We recounted. Now, according to the transit contract, our claims are more than 13 billion, which we have already raised, and we will expose more than 5 billion dollars, "Vitrenko said. Despite this, to put it mildly, not the gentlemanly behavior of Naftogaz, the company does not exclude that Possibly resort to Russia's help in case of a critical situation during the heating season and will resume purchases of Russian blue fuel.
"Already this year we can buy Russian gas for our consumers. However, we will do this already taking into account the positive result of Stockholm (preliminary decision of the Stockholm Arbitration in the suit against Russia under the gas contract), we can take in principle the Russian gas. ", - said Yuri Vitrenko.
Both companies, and Gazprom and Naftogaz of Ukraine, are being sued in Stockholm arbitration since June 2014. The subject of the dispute are contracts for the supply of gas from Russia to Ukraine and to gas transit from 2009.
"Gazprom" accuses "Naftogaz" of shortage of fuel under the previously agreed scheme "take or pay" (take or pay). According to him, the Ukrainian side undertook to pay every year the minimum amount of fuel.
The requirements of the Ukrainian side are the following: change the price of gas, refund overpayments for unreviewed prices and transit rates, and abolish the ban on resale of fuel.
Commenting on the five-million dollar increase in Naftogaz's financial claims, analysts agree that it is an "ordinary dummy" and will not help the Ukrainian party in the Stockholm Arbitration.
Remembering the leading expert of the National Energy Security Fund Stanislav Mitrahovich, during the litigation Gazprom will appeal to the contract in 2009, which clearly states that the company has the right to independently change the cost of gas transit at certain rates. The expert is sure that the position of Gazprom is much more serious than that of his opponent.
"What Ukraine will count plus 5 billion or some other number of billions will not have much significance," concluded Stanislav Mitrokhovich.
In Stockholm, an interim decision was already made in the dispute, while the Ukrainian side stated that the court had satisfied its basic requirements. Gazprom also believes that the balance in the decision is positive for the Russian company.
