The counter-trade program - so called in the official documents of the deal, an agreement about which is reached between Jakarta and Moscow. In the signed on August 7, 2017, The Indonesia Owned Enterprises (Indonesian foreign trade state company) and Rostekh memorandum are a barter, according to which Indonesians will receive 11 Su-35 fighters in exchange for deliveries of coffee, tea, palm oil and other goods.
Moreover, as stated by the Indonesian Ambassador in Moscow Wahid Supriyadi the RNS, "during the negotiations relating to the purchase of the Su-35, we determine the possibility of joint production of a certain kind of technology is in Indonesia using Russian technologies". And it was a question of such a format of cooperation not only for fighters, but also for other spheres.
Negotiations on the delivery of "drying" Jakarta conducted for two years and, finally, achieved the desired result. In addition, as told by Supriadi in an interview with RIA Novosti, his country is interested in the acquisition of amphibious Be-200 Altair aircraft from the Russian Federation to extinguish forest fires, as well as Mi-class helicopters. The plans for the future also include the purchase from Russia of submarines of the Kilo class. He said this on the eve of the visit to Jakarta by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov - he will be held on August 8-9.
During the upcoming talks, an exchange will take place on the most pressing global problems, including the fight against terrorism. In addition, according to Supriadi, Jakarta intends to discuss another very important issue for her: the possibility of joining the Eurasian Economic Union (EurAsEC). Indonesia takes the role of a connecting link, a hub between the economies of the ASEAN and EurAsEC countries. Seeing the huge trade and economic potential of cooperation between the two regional associations, Jakarta intends not to lose its profit from the creation of a free trade zone between them.
And while Indonesia is increasing trade with Russia - for the past year it grew by 33%, reaching a mark of 2.5 billion dollars. At the same time, while the ball is on the side of Jakarta - the volume of imports to our country is $ 2.2 billion, whereas we export much less - only $ 403 million. In January-May 2017, bilateral trade grew by 15% to $ 1 billion (Russian exports increased 49% to $ 212 million, but 8% added imports, rising to $ 810 million), the Russian Foreign Ministry said in an official statement to Lavrov's visit.
Our countries are already implementing several joint projects, the largest of which is the construction of an oil refinery on the island of Java. Rosneft won a tender for the construction of an oil refinery and last year in Sochi, in the presence of the presidents of the two countries, signed a memorandum with the Indonesian company Pertamina. The volume of investments, according to preliminary estimates, may amount to $ 15 billion.
The Indonesian side is also interested in participating in the development of two oil fields in Russia.
In addition, Jakarta does not give up hope for a joint construction with Russia of the cosmodrome for space launches under the program "Air Launch". A few years ago such a project was discussed - it was about placing a launch pad on Biaqa, one of the remote eastern Indonesian islands in the province of Papua, near the equator. But then Russia built a starter complex for the Soyuz missiles at the Kourou cosmodrome in French Guiana, and the Indonesians remained with nothing. But in Jakarta we are still convinced that our countries have the potential for cooperation in this area and are very interested in joining the high technologies related to outer space.
