A Microsoft employee named Troy Hunt launched an unusual online service. Using it, you can check whether a password was compromised as a result of data leakage.

Visitors to the site are greeted by a string in which to enter the password. After that, the system checks whether there is such a combination of characters in the database.

The base was collected by Hunt from open sources. As a basis, he took publicly laid out lists of passwords previously stolen by hackers from various Internet services - they accumulated more than 300 million.

Web users took interest in the new resource with interest, checking to see if their chosen passwords are present in the database.
