The active phase of the Ukrainian-American exercise "Sea Breeze - 2017" began off the coast of the Odessa region on Tuesday, July 18. This was reported in the press center of the exercises.

The military is practicing a multinational security operation in a crisis region.

During the week, the multinational headquarters assessed the situation, analyzed and developed the tasks, worked out the options for action and agreed on the plan.

In parallel with the planning was the coordination of tactical groups of ships in the sea.

"Currently deployed forces are being deployed in certain areas," said Captain 1st rank Alexei Neijpapa, head of the Ukrainian-American exercise "Sea Breeze 2017". - The operation will be conducted in the free play mode and will become one of the tools for the gradual transition of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the functioning according to NATO standards ".

In the course of the active phase of international maneuvers, it is planned to conduct exercises on anti-submarine, anti-ship and anti-aircraft defense.

In addition, the participants are expected landing, search and rescue and inspection operations, actions for the power release of the ship, underwater demining, wiring for trawls and the like. The culmination of the exercises will be the search for a submarine of the Turkish Navy.

Recall that the exercise takes place from 10 to 23 July in the Odessa and Mykolaiv regions, as well as in the north-western part of the Black Sea. They are attended by 16 countries.
