Outbreak of botulism in Ukraine: a deadly infection was found in canned food

In the regions of Ukraine there is no serum against botulism, said the infectious diseases specialist of the Ministry of Health.

In Ukraine, new cases of botulism, one of which occurred due to the consumption of canned fish in industrial production.

This is on his Facebook page reported the chief freelance infectious disease specialist of Ukraine Olga Golubovskaya.

She notes that because of the outbreak of botulism, recommendations for the prevention of a fatal infection.

"It is necessary to add or restrict the use of canned products purchased in stores and manufactured in industrial conditions, or these products must be heat treated," - said the infectious disease specialist.

Olga Golubovskaya also added that in the regions of Ukraine there is no serum against botulism, so the prevention of this infection is very important.

"I remind you that there is no anti-botulinum serum in the regions. So the salvation of drowning people is the work of the drowning. We have only one thing - prevention. How nevertheless it is good that this infection can not be hypothetically located in any product, we just got lucky, "- wrote Olga Golubovskaya.

Recall, in Ukraine, registered cases of botulism among the population associated with the consumption of fish products. Earlier, the State Procurement Service reported on the outbreak of a dangerous infection in the Poltava, Sumy and Zaporozhye regions. In addition, botulism was diagnosed in Vinnitsa, Kiev, Odessa and Kherson regions.

Botulism - a serious toxic infectious disease, which affects the nervous system. Severe form of the disease can lead to death. Infection bacteria can live in dried and dried fish, house conservation mushrooms, canned meat and fish and sausage.
