Earlier on Monday, Speaker of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin at a meeting with the Armenian delegation offered Yerevan to consolidate the official status for the Russian language in the legislation of the republic so that national driving licenses could be recognized on the territory of the Russian Federation.

The issue of their recognition in Russia was raised by Babloyan. In his opinion, after the adoption of the law on July 14 by the State Duma, according to which citizens of Kyrgyzstan, as well as other countries where the Russian language was officially registered, were given the right to work in Russia with drivers with national rights, "the citizens of Armenia actually remained overboard".

"I can only say one thing: fix it [Russian] as official, then the norm of the law will automatically cover the Republic of Armenia," Volodin said at a meeting with the delegation of the Armenian National Assembly headed by Babloyan.

"After Volodin voiced this idea, I spoke, stressing that the issue of granting the Russian language a constitutional status on the agenda of Armenia is not and is not expected," Ashotyan said.. He expressed regret at the fact that "some Russian media have fragmentarily transmitted the content of the discussion in the State Duma".
