It's not so rare to meet on the streets of cranks who crash into poles and roll off the escalators just because they are too keen on their smartphones. In fact, as recent research shows, the iPhone and other modern phones have changed not only how we communicate, but also how we walk.

As you can guess, this conclusion was made by British scientists. Employees of the University Anglia Ruskin conducted a study in which they studied how changing the behavior of a person on the street, depending on whether he uses the phone and how he uses it.

Before the subjects placed an object resembling a curb, and asked them to approach it and step over it, and do it in three different situations. In the first they had to correspond with the help of a smartphone, in the second - to talk on the cell phone, and in the third - do not use the phone at all.

As a result, the researchers found that the amount of time that people spent looking at the obstacle was reduced by about 61%, regardless of whether they were talking on the phone or talking on it. Of course, in case of correspondence this time was long, but the difference with the colloquial regime was insignificant.

In general, it was noted that when using smartphones while walking, the behavioral style becomes more cautious, and the study of obstacles - more closely. Of course, this is in cases where a telephone maniac generally sees obstacles, and does not stumble through them in the process of correspondence.
