LG, according to network sources, will begin mass production of displays at the end of the decade, which can be twisted into a tube.
It is known that the screens will be manufactured using OLED technology - organic LEDs. Panels will be designed for use in new generation TVs.
It is reported that at first LG intends to master the production of curled OLED-displays in two sizes - 55 and 75 inches diagonally. Theoretically, such solutions can replace systems from the projector and the screen.
The main advantages of new panels will be the possibility of placing on surfaces of various shapes (say, curved walls) and ease of transportation. Any other details, alas, are not disclosed. It is noted only that the release of products will begin in 2020.
Recently it was also reported that this month LG will organize the production of flexible screens AMOLED (active matrix based on organic light-emitting diodes) for mobile devices.
Let's also add that last month LG demonstrated the world's largest flexible transparent display. The panel with a diagonal of 77 inches has a resolution of 3840 ? 2160 pixels (4K), a light transmittance of 40% and a radius of curvature of 80 mm.
