NBU issued a coin dedicated to the poet Mikhail Petrenko

It is dedicated to the Ukrainian romantic poet Mikhail Petrenko, the author of the song "I'm Marveling at Heaven". As it was reported in the press-service of the regulator, a coin of nickel silver, with a face value of 2 hryvnia, was issued with a circulation of 35 thousand pieces.

It is dedicated to Mikhail Nikolaevich Petrenko (1817 - 1862) - a romantic poet of the first half of the XIX century. Until now, preserved a few of his works, but on all the continents of the world remember his song masterpiece "I'm Marveling at Heaven", - reminded the NBU.

The obverse of the coin depicts a mound, Ukrainian steppe, a stone woman, on which sits a falcon. At the top of the semicircle there is: the denomination of 2 UAH, the small State Emblem of Ukraine (under which the coinage year is 2017), the inscription Ukraine, the NBU banknote and mint logo.

On the reverse of the coin, on a mirror background, there is a falcon, flying and inscriptions: I wonder at that sky: I did not conceive the truth, I do not lie, I change my mind, God, I did not give you krill? I will leave the earth and fly to the sky! That below - Mikhailo Petrenko 1817-1862 Recall, as co-reported URA-Inform, May 17, in Ukraine in circulation new commemorative coins are introduced. The National Bank of Ukraine issued two coins "The Old Castle in Kamyanets-Podilskyi", which added to the series "Architectural Monuments of Ukraine".
