Ukraine is negotiating with one of France's largest companies Engie SA to build a giant solar power plant, worth $ 1.25 billion in the exclusion zone. This is reported by Bloomberg.
"The French experience in nuclear energy is one of the reasons why we wanted to work with a French company," said the Minister of Ecology of Ukraine Ostap Semerak.
In Engie SA confirmed that the company is negotiating with Ukraine, but refused to talk about the details of the project. According to Semerak, now about 60 companies are interested in the implementation of projects in the exclusion zone.
Today in Ukraine, the highest tariffs for clean electricity. Kilowatt-hour costs 15 euro cents, while in most countries on the continent the price does not exceed 8.6 euro cents.
"This is a good reward, but perhaps not so good if you take into account all the risks in the country. In Ukraine there is good solar radiation, but also too low investor confidence and excessive cost of projects, "- commented on the potential transaction analyst BNEF Pietro Radoja.
