Ankara will no longer receive from Brussels the money needed to implement reforms. European Parliament insists on formal suspension of negotiations on Turkey's accession to the EU. Deputies of all factions voted on Thursday, July 6, for the adoption of an appropriate appeal to the European Commission. Suspension of negotiations suggests that Ankara will no longer receive from Brussels the money needed to carry out reforms. However, the document adopted by the European Parliament is not legally binding. Meanwhile, in the opinion of parliamentarians, it is possible to talk about the complete cessation of the talks only if the constitutional reform subjected to sharp criticism in Turkey is implemented without changes. According to observers, this will damage the principle of separation of powers and independence of justice bodies in the country. Shortly before the voting in Strasbourg, the Turkish Minister for EU Affairs Omer Celik stated that Turkey continues to seek full membership in the European Union. Earlier, the head of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, warned the Turkish authorities against the imposition of the death penalty. Such a decision would be a renunciation of the European family and the transition through "the redest of all red lines," said the politician.
