Shortly before the voting in Strasbourg, the Turkish Minister for EU Affairs Omer Celik stated that Turkey continues to seek full membership in the European Union. Earlier, the head of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, warned the Turkish authorities against the imposition of the death penalty. Such a decision would be a renunciation of the European family and the transition through "the redest of all red lines," said the politician.
